SafeParent is a parental control app for Android. From your phone you can lock your child's phone, block apps, set screen time and bedtime, see their location and filter websites.

The child's phone must be an Android phone. The parent app also runs on Android. iPhone is not supported yet.

Both. It is one app. On your phone choose Parent mode; on your child's phone choose Child mode and enter the 6-character pairing code shown on your phone.

No. Your child's phone joins your family with a short pairing code. Only the parent signs in with an email address.

Family Link is Google's free tool and works through a supervised Google account for your child. SafeParent is a separate app that pairs with a code instead, and combines one-tap remote lock, per-app limits, bedtime lock, geofence alerts, a category web filter and emergency contacts in one family dashboard.

Yes. Tap Lock phone in the parent app and the child's phone locks straight away. If they unlock it, it locks again until you tap Unlock. Emergency calls from the lock screen keep working.

Yes. You see the apps installed on your child's phone and can block any of them, or give an app its own daily limit and allowed hours.

Yes. You can save up to 3 emergency contacts. During bedtime and screen-time locks your child can call them from SafeParent, and emergency calls from the Android lock screen always work.

Yes. The parent dashboard shows your child's battery percentage and whether the phone is charging. It updates as the level changes (and at least every 30 minutes), even when SafeParent is closed, and you get an alert when the battery drops to 20% and again at 10% while it isn't charging. If the phone hasn't checked in for over an hour, the level is marked “last known”, so a flat battery is easy to tell apart from switched-off location.

The web filter runs as a private VPN on the child's phone, so it works at the network level rather than inside one browser. It blocks the categories you choose — adult content, gambling, violence and weapons, social media, online games and shopping.

No. SafeParent does not read messages, chats, photos or what your child types. It uses app usage time, the list of installed apps, the phone's location and website categories to apply your rules.

SafeParent uses Android's Device Admin, Accessibility and VPN permissions to enforce your rules, which makes it hard to remove quietly. If a permission is switched off you get an alert in the parent app, and if the phone stops checking in, the parent app shows that too.

If you haven't subscribed, SafeParent pauses on your child's phone: it stops sharing location and usage, and blocks and locks are released until you subscribe.
