Features
- Remote lock: lock the child's phone instantly; it re-locks if unlocked until the parent taps Unlock. Emergency calls from the lock screen still work.
- App blocker: block any installed app, or give it a daily time limit and allowed hours on chosen days.
- Screen time: one daily limit for the whole phone; usage reports for today, the week and the month; the child can request +15, +30 or +60 minutes.
- Bedtime lock: the phone locks every night in a chosen window, in the family's time zone.
- Location: live location, 7-day history, and arrive/leave alerts for saved places (200 m area).
- Web filter: blocks adult content, gambling, violence and weapons, social media, online games and shopping sites using a private VPN on the child's phone.
- Emergency contacts: up to 3 numbers the child can call from SafeParent during bedtime and screen-time locks.
- Battery: the child's battery level and charging status on the parent dashboard, updated as it changes (at least every 30 minutes), marked “last known” if the phone goes quiet.
- Alerts: time requests, place arrivals and departures, apps installed or removed (as it happens), low battery (at 20% and 10%), and permissions switched off.
- Background updates: new-app and battery alerts are sent as they happen, and the child's phone checks in about every 15 minutes even when SafeParent is closed.
Privacy
SafeParent uses the child phone's app usage time, the list of installed apps, its location and the categories of websites visited to apply the parent's rules. It does not read messages, chats, photos or what the child types. Data is encrypted in transit. Details are in the privacy policy.
Android permissions used
Usage Access (screen time), Accessibility (app blocking), Device Admin (remote and bedtime lock), Location “Allow all the time” (location and place alerts), VPN (web filter), battery set to “Unrestricted” (so alerts keep working in the background) and notifications. Each one is explained in the setup guide.
What SafeParent does not do
- It does not work on iPhone yet.
- It does not read messages or record calls or screens.
- It cannot see inside apps or encrypted traffic; the web filter works on website categories.
