# SafeParent

> SafeParent is a parental control app for Android phones. A parent installs it on their own phone (Parent mode) and on their child's phone (Child mode), pairs the two with a short code, and can then lock the child's phone in one tap, block apps, set daily screen time and bedtime limits, see the child's live location with arrive/leave alerts for saved places, and filter websites by category. Android 7.0+ only (iPhone not supported yet). Pricing: ₹300/month or ₹3,000/year in India, $4/month or $35/year elsewhere, up to 5 children, with a 7-day free trial for one child. Sold through Google Play.

- The child does not need a Google account or email; phones pair with a 6-character code valid for 15 minutes.
- Remote lock re-locks if the child unlocks the phone, until the parent taps Unlock. Emergency calls from the lock screen always work, and the child can call up to 3 saved emergency contacts during bedtime and screen-time locks.
- The child's phone checks in about every 15 minutes even when SafeParent is closed. Parents are alerted as soon as an app is installed or removed, when the child's battery drops to 20% and 10%, and if a permission is switched off.
- Privacy: it does not read messages, chats, photos or keystrokes, and does not record calls or the screen. The web filter is an on-device VPN that only looks up website names; traffic is not sent to SafeParent's servers.
- Free trial: starts when the first child's phone is paired (not at sign-up), lasts 7 days, covers 1 child, no payment needed. If the family does not subscribe, tracking pauses and blocks and locks are released on the child's phone.
- Difference from Google Family Link: Family Link is Google's free tool and needs a supervised Google account for the child; SafeParent is a paid, separate app that pairs with a code and adds one-tap remote lock, per-app limits, bedtime lock, geofence alerts, a category web filter and emergency contacts in one dashboard.
- Limits: no iPhone support; it cannot see inside apps or encrypted traffic; the web filter works on website categories, not individual pages.
